I found this story on the BBC today - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3734462.stm
I was stung on ebay a couple of months ago where I bid for and won a mini iPod, the guy then said he was out of stock and I would have to wait 6 weeks. 6 Weeks later still nothing so i complained and paypal said they wouldn't investigate because it was past 30 days, getting ebay to investigate and start to get the money back was more difficult than anything as their system is designed to make you give up after a while of jumping through hoops. Be very careful and very wary of large ticket items - always use a credit card as then you can claim the money back through the credit card company if it goes wrong
in the end I got the money back but only because i threatened legal action and also got his ebay account frozen (through persistent bitching) but I still ended up £30 out of pocket as the guy only refunded the money he got from paypal, which didn't include what he was charged for the auction, so I ended up paying for his auction fees -

The Stem Cell experiment, good or bad?
by Brummie init was discussed by the president & kerry, it will be all over the news over the next few days because of the death of a hero, for some reason the stem cell issue scares me and i dont think i could support it, taking some voiceless life to improve another, maybe i am misinformed?
it all seems unethical.
i dont know all the facts, can you enlighten me please?.

but that's the problem isn't it? we can't truly live in that much of a democracy where every decision gets a referendum, it would tie up the wheels of government so much that nothing would get done.
as for playing god, why do you think that stem cell research equates to that? the stem cells have the potential to become life as they come from a fertilised egg but they are used before they become a life form so it's not like an abortion. We play god every day in medicine by saving lives that 100 years ago would have ended through disease or illness. Infant mortality was horrendous even up to the turn of the century, how can we criticise playing god on the one hand using stem cells to take medical expertise forwards and not criticise it when we are increasing lifespan and straining the worlds resources with our longer lives. If you really want man to stop playing god then are you prepared to not have your kids immunised, or disallow them surgery when they are ill? -

stem cells aren't a life, they are a cluster of cells just growing in a petri dish. SP is right, when the cells start to divide just after fertilisation they have the potential to be anything, they can be inserted into damaged spinal tissue and have the potential to reconnect the spinal cord.
It's a shame all the decent research is being done over here where the government haven't bowed to the uninformed opinion, unfortunately the debate on stem cell research has been hijacked by the anti abortionists in the USA -

I lost my job at Microsoft today...thanks to a wonderful economy...
by dolphman infor the last few years, many of my friends have lost their jobs and have not found suitable replacements.
most are on unemployment, and those whose unemployment has run out are simply eeking out some meager existence doing something they don't like, that doesn't pay well, and doesn't help to really reduce the stress they face every day.. well, to be honest, i used to laugh my ass off at them.
ha ha ha i would say.

dude, I am sorry. Happened to me 2 years ago at Logica and I have been seeing the same shit for 5 years through Lucent, Logica and now Agilent. Everywhere is sending work offshore, especially development work - maybe you could move to Bangalore??? Hope you find something soon, it may be for the best and may prove to be the kick you need to put into place plans you have been putting off for a while. For me it pushed me to finally cut whining about how bad it was in the Uk and put in my emigration papers for Australia. Sometimes you have to look damn hard for the silver lining but it is always there.

I did a month in Oz 2 years ago and decided to emigrate so put the papers in in january. We went to Sydney, Ayers Rock and Perth - which is like Cornwall but sunnier. I would highly recommend it
I spent a month backpacking round eastern Canada a few years ago, it was great and a real journey of self discovery as I had just split up with someone
